Being locked out of your car can be frustrating. You have places you need to be, or your house keys are attached to your car key. It is never convenient when you lock your keys in your car. Here are some tips to prevent locking yourself out of your car:

• Periodically replace key fob batteries: If your key fob battery is dead, you may not even be able to start your car. If this happens, you will have to insert the key into your door and manually open the locks.

• Put keys in pocket/purse: A lot of auto lockouts occur because someone leaves their keys somewhere in their vehicle other than on themselves or in their purses. Being in a rush can cause us to forget that we left the keys on the seat next to us and we get out without them. The car then locks itself and we can’t get in. Keep your keys in your pockets or in your purse so you never leave them by accident.
